Naval Fleet Actions After Battle of Trafalgar. The battle of Trafalgar was not the last fleet action of Napoleonic Wars though it was the most decisive.
-In Naval Battle of Santo Domingo in Caribbean (February 1806) Royal Navy squadron commanded by Admiral Duckworth engaged a French squadron , captured or destroyed five French man of war and totally wiping their French counter parts , losing no ships in return. That battle secured Caribbean for British merchant shipping
-Capture of Rosily Squadron (battle of Poza de Santa Isabel) (June 1808) When French squadron (five French ship of line and one frigate) under command of Admiral Rosly blockaded in Spanish port of Cadiz due to Royal Navy presence offshore , was bombarded and forced to surrender by Spanish garrison after Napoleon invaded France and put his brother in throne , triggering Spanish War of Independence.
-Battle of Basque Roads (April 1809) , when eleven French ship of line and four French frigates under command of Admiral Allemand cornered in harbour of Basque Roads in southern France was attacked by a Royal Navy of similar size , commanded by Admiral James Gambier and Lord Cochrane (real hero of this engagement) By using bomb ships , fire ships , rockets and boarding the grounded French vessels , British captured or destroyed four French man of war warships and a French frigate , in exchange of losing no ships. If Admiral Gambier had followed Cochrane's leadership , advice and example , the result would be a total British victory as big as battle of Nile.
Any other naval engaments in sqdron size or more after Trafalgar ?
