LVCA (Lucca) agreements
This is the name of the new agreement reached in 56 BC, publicly and in the presence of 200 senators and numerous magistrates, by CNÆVS POMPEIVS MAGNVS (Cnaues Pompey the Great), CAIVS IVLIVS CÆSAR (Caius Julius Caesar) and MARCVS LICINIVS CRASSVS (Marcus Licinius Crassus), regarding the division of constitutional powers.
With the agreements of LVCA (Lucca) the triumvirs, confirming the previous agreement (the one that had given rise to the PRIMVS TRIVMVIRATVS first triumvirate) established that:
- POMPEIVS (Pompey) would have obtained for 55 BC the CONSVLATVS (consulate) and later the command of the Roman troops in HISPANIA (Spain);
- CRASSVS (Crassus), like POMPEIVS (Pompey), would have obtained the consulate in 55 BC. and subsequently the command of the troops in Syria, for the war against the Parthians;
- IVLIVS CÆSAR (Julius Caesar) would maintain his legions, whose command would later be extended, thus consolidating his military power.
