3-ISTORIA REPREZINTA PASIUNEA MEA NR-1.
On September 3, 36 BC. #Agrippa won the fleet of #SestoPompeo in #Naulochus, in #Sicily. In fact the latter held hostage the grain supplies for Rome, where #Ottaviano resided, who asked #Antonio for help. The triumvir provided him with 120 ships in exchange for 20,000 legionaries. This was how Agrippa was able to go on the counterattack; Octavian, however, did not participate in the clashes. In fact, Suetonius tells us (Augustus, 16) that: «at the moment of fighting, [Octavian] was struck by such a deep sleep that his friends struggled a lot to wake him up, so that he could give the signal to attack. For this reason Antony, I believe [Suetonius], had every good reason to reproach him, maintaining that he had not even had the courage to observe a fleet lined up for battle, on the contrary to having remained lying on his back with his eyes turned to the sky, terrified, remaining in that position, without introducing himself to the soldiers, until Agrippa put the enemy fleet to flight.» The Roman historian also adds that the victory, obtained thanks to the harpagon which allowed Agrippa's soldiers to fight as if on land (a sort of revisitation of the crow of the Punic wars) and which brought Sicily back under the aegis of Rome (Pompey, fled to the East, was killed), had been predicted to Octavian (Augustus, 96): «The day before the naval clash in Sicily, while he was walking on the shore, a fish jumped out of the water and fell at his feet.»
